Roodee Racecourse near Wharton Lock Apartment

The Chester Roodee Racecourse has a more historic setting than any other in the world. In the days of Roman occupation, the River Dee washed up to the walls where today, thousands stand to cheer on the race winners.

The horse racing at Chester dates back to the early Sixteenth Century, making it the country's oldest Racecourse.

At Chester Racecourse 12 fixtures take place during the racing season from May to September.
The racing calendar starts with the prestigious three day May Meeting. The flat racing season continues throughout the Summer months with both day, and the evermore popular, evening meetings, including the two-day July Festival and Family Funday, two-day festival in August and the final race meeting of the year at the end of September.
