Christmas Shopping in Chester

Why not take a short break or holiday in Chester at Wharton Lock Apartment and enjoy the Christmas lights while completing your Christmas shopping. Chester is a special place to enjoy at this time of year - late night shopping under the twinkling lights, while listening to carol singers is not to be missed.

In mid November there is an evening of entertainment, in front of the Town Hall, when the Christmas lights are officially switched on. Visit Chester Tourist Information Centre for dates and times of carol services and carol singing events within the shopping precincts.

The Chester Lantern Festival is held during the last week in November. Lanterns are paraded through the streets, in addition there is a marching band, street theatre performers, musicians, choirs, and other local music groups perform seasonal music including carols, Mediaeval and Renaissance pieces.

There is, also, an ice skating rink at Chester Zoo that is open from the beginning of December and runs over the Christmas and New Year period.
