We would like to introduce you this month to our favourite canalside Real Ale bar - Old Harkers Arms - this is just a very short walk along the canal from Wharton Lock Apartment. The recent addition of the table and chairs on the newly pedestrianised pathway outside means on a nice day you can enjoy your pint and a sandwich while watching the canal boats pass under City Road Bridge.
As well as serving a fantastic and changing choice of Real Ales - such as beers from the local Weetwood Brewery - they also serve a good choice of Ciders, Perry's and Scrumpy's but my favourite is one of their lovely Pimms!

To compliment these lovely drinks you can enjoy a wide range of freshly prepared food - from snacks to a full 3 course meal.
Our favourites are the Ploughman's Lunch with 4 British cheeses, oney glazed ham with free range eggs and chips or roast beef with horseradish on fresh chunky bread (a meal in itself).
