Our eldest son's wedding near Chester!

We flew in on 22nd July to take part in the wedding of Simon, our eldest son, and Lisa his childhood sweetheart. After a flight delay and with the help of Simon collecting us from the airport we arrived just in time for the wedding rehearsal at Tarvin Church. This was a time of tears and laughter particularly when Lisas Mother admitted trimming the church trees so they would not drip on the bride and groom and their guests if it dared to rain on their wedding day. We then treated everyone to a very tasty Afternoon Tea at The Gunnerys in Tarvin.

On Friday we had a lovely surprise visit from Lisa and Simon in the morning. Later Simon came back on his own, ready to spend the remainder of the day at home with us. His sister, Amy, arrived to keep him company and in the early evening his brother Keith (Best Man!) and Jess, his girlfriend, arrived and we all went for a meal at The Slow Boat in Chester.

Simon and Lisa are married

Then on Saturday we all awake excitedly to get ready for the wedding ......... Graham , Sandra, Simon, Keith and Jess were soon joined by the lady with the flower delivery, my brother Richard (the usher), Simons two sisters Amy and Samantha and finally the photographer! With four men getting into top hat and tails and us girls putting out the buffet lunch and bubbly this was definately a busy time !!

All too soon we were off to the church ......... it was lovely to see the whole family looking fantastic and all excited about the day, obviously Simon had the biggest smile!

The wedding at Tarvin Church was a beautiful service and the church was filled with flowers, then the newly married Lisa and Simon together with all the guests travelled the couple of miles to Willington Hall for canapes and champagne cocktails while the photographs were taken. Then on to the wedding breakfast, speeches (well done Simon and Keith!) and the evening buffet and disco. All in all a fantastic day.

The wedding

The next morning we returned to Willington Hall to enjoy a family breakfast with the bride and groom. This was also the moment that Lisa and Simon had asked that we announce the surprise honeymoon we had booked for them .......... and so finally they found out they were off to Sharm el Sheihk in Egypt for two weeks at a 4* all inclusive hotel, now they just had 24 hours to pack and get ready !
